As we bid adieu to 2010 (official year of the celeb celebration), learn how to add red-carpet glamour to your wedding day with these chic ideas.

Ask a friend to officiate…

Of course, it helps if you’ve got a world famous spirituality guru like Deepak Chopra on speed dial, but there’s no reason why you can’t ask a dear, articulate friend to lead you through your I dos. Just get the legal bit taken care of at a register office ahead of time.

Make your hairstyle match the mood of the event

Camilla Dallerup and Hilary Duff both chose cathedral-length veils. But while the Strialy star added tiny boho braids to her half-up style to reflect the relaxed vibe of her Ibizan do, Hil had her hair pulled back into a glamorous high bun to suit the elegant California estate where she tied the knot.

Think ice, ice baby…

Diamonds are most definitely an A-list girl’s best friend – especially when it comes to headwear. Carrie Underwood went all-out princess with a 40ct diamond tiara, while Alicia Keys channeled a goddess vibe in a diamond necklace reworked into a 60ct halo. Crystals will work nicely as a bank-balance-friendly alternative!

…or be a hippy chick

Swap the bling for a ring of flower a la Celia Walden, who wore a freshly woven daisy-chain with a simple centre parting to match her bouquet of wildflowers.

Get inked

Word on the street is, Robbie’s considering a tattoo on his ring finger in lieu of a physical band of gold (though he did do the traditional ring exchange with Ayda on their wedding day).

Pledge your love at sunset

Hey, if it’s good enough for Megan Fox and Anna Paquin, it’s good for us!

Say it with feeling

We confess, we shed a tear or two when we watched Coco Rocha and James Conran exchange hand-written vows on the highlights video from their French chateau wedding.

Serve your cake naked

Not you, the cake! Hilary Duff chose un-iced tiers of golden vanilla cake for a homemade, vintage look. A thin coating of buttercream between layers gave the dessert just the right touch of sweetness.

Send a sweet tweet

Swizz Beatz scored a collective swoon from his followers when he posted a romantic “Wow” and “It’s a brand new day : )” from his wedding. For regular folk, we advise saving the tweets for the ride to the airport for your honeymoon – or have one of your maids do it. Of sister Hilary’s five-star Santa Barbara celebration, Haylie Duff tweeted, “What a special weekend filled with love and beautiful memories”.

Czech supermodel Petra Nemcova, who announced her engagement to British actor Jamie Belman last month, already has an idea of what she wants her wedding to be like.

Petra Nemcova

“Part of it will be more formal and part of it will be just lots of fun and just craziness,” Petra tells Us magazine. “We want a little bit of craziness.”

The model stayed tight-lipped on what exactly the “craziness” would be, but did say that the wedding would likely be held in England. “We’re still figuring out which specific place will be the best,” says Petra, 31. She added that they’re thinking the wedding will be about 150 people, but that they’re mainly going for a low-key vibe.

Of course, the fashionista does have one item already figured out: her wedding dress. “My dress will be Marchesa!” she says, adding that an outfit change (or two) might be in store. “It’s so beautiful and elegant.”

Roll out the red carpet because your wedding will keep the paparazzi talking for years to come! From the carefully hand selected centerpieces to the amazing flower bouquets, modern brides and their beaus can get married in style just like the celebrities.

No matter what your budget may be, you can select the finest wedding invitations that your budget can afford and still be considered an A-Lister to all your friends and family.

Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams

Pull out all the stops and get rid of any misconceptions you might have about wedding invitations. Traditional stationery featuring lovebirds and wedding bells are a thing of the past. Follow the likes of steel company owner, Lakshimi Mittal, whose daughter, Vanisha, was married in 2004. Encased in silver and offering twenty pages of prose written by family members, the 1,200 wedding invitations cost Mittal a mere fortune. Despite the expense, guests were left with a remarkable keepsake that they could value forever.

The average couple can’t afford to send out invitations like Mittal’s, but they can tap into the inspiration of the event by designing wedding invitations that take your breath away. Consider encasing your invitation in a red envelope to exude the celebrity feel. Or you can even create your own satin fabric envelopes that will luxuriously contain all of the details to your special day.

Incorporating Your Celebrity Values into Your Wedding Invitations

Alicia Silverstone, who played Cher in the movie Clueless, and her husband, Christopher Jarecki, incorporated their values into their wedding theme. By hosting an all-natural, organic wedding, Silverstone and her fiancé were able to send out recycled invitations complete with seeds that could be planted later. Not only was the stationery unique, but it also was eco-friendly, which fit the lifestyle of the actress and her soon-to-be husband.

Other celebrities had their wedding invitations personally designed and customized like Eva Longoria and Tony Parker. Both Hispanic, the famous couple included two wedding traditions in their ceremony. In preparation for the event, they sent out instructions explaining the process to their guest courtesy of their wedding invitations.

Easy Ways for Your Wedding Invitations to Be Glamorous

Black wedding invitations with gold or silver script look elegant without being too extravagant. Select a style that suits you and pick a font that matches your theme. If you would like more color added to your stationery, choose bright tones like fuchsia, orange, emerald green, or purple. Bold patterns add personality to even the most inexpensive wedding invitations.

Sheer ribbon, tiny seashells, and other embellishments make unique souvenirs for your guests. Hand select items that would appeal to others. Glitter, wax seals, and stamped clay pendants add a special touch to pre-bought stationery. Visit a local arts and crafts store to find these items.

You don’t have to be famous to have the wedding of the century. Impress your guests with amazing wedding invitations that reflect the essence of who you are and where you hope your marriage will someday be.

celebrity wedding styles

Who’s Getting Hitched? Kate Middleton and Prince William

After watching an eight-year romance blossom, the world is ready for the wedding of the century.

Her Style: Classic, tailored, chic. Kate often sticks to basics and then adds something fun, like an oversize fascinator, to complete her look.

Their Wedding: Though Kate’s known for being a bargain shopper, we’re guessing the young royal couple won’t spare any expense when it comes to this wedding. Look for over-the-top grandeur for the ceremony and the processional from Westminster Abbey. As for the reception? Though we likely won’t get to see it, we’re thinking a seven-course meal, a cake with several tiers, and splashes of gold and red throughout the elegant decor.

Who’s Getting Hitched? Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson

Once deemed “unlucky-in-love” by the press, Jessica Simpson surprised just about everyone when she announced her engagement to former NFL tight end Eric Johnson.

Her Style: With her own line of shoes, handbags and clothing, Jessica has built a reputation for liking girlie but fabulous designs.

Their Wedding: Though she went hyper-feminine for her first wedding to Nick Lachey (remember all those pink roses and candles?), from the moment she slipped on that ruby engagement ring, Jessica made one thing clear: This won’t be like the last one. It’s a second wedding for both, so we expect they’ll opt for a toned-down affair. We can totally see Jessica in an A-line gown in ivory or nude, amid rustic decor and even in a ranch setting, since she’s made it clear she’s a country girl at heart.

Who’s Getting Hitched? Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied

On the set of her psycho-thriller, Black Swan, Natalie fell for choreographer Benjamin. Just a few months later, they announced they’re expecting their first baby together and plan to tie the knot.

Her Style: Natalie’s red carpet M.O. seems to be flowy dresses that still show off her svelte frame; but when she’s not in the spotlight, she’s not afraid to be seen without makeup. (Remember: This is the girl who actually shaved her head for V for Vendetta.)

Their Wedding: They’ve managed to keep their lives pretty private, so we’re guessing the wedding will be the same way. Our prediction? A secluded destination beach wedding with Natalie in a long Grecian-inspired gossamer dress carrying a bouquet of small white orchids, and Benjamin in a pale linen suit.

Who’s Getting Hitched? LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian

It’s the relationship that shocked Hollywood: LeAnn and Eddie left their spouses to be together. Still, despite the initial outcries, they seem to be rock-solid now.

Her Style: This country crooner’s low-key style has gotten a recent makeover thanks in part to a cover shoot with Shape magazine in which LeAnn showed off her sculpted abs. Since then, it’s been all swimsuits and skinny jeans for this diva.

Their Wedding: Eddie and LeAnn aren’t shy, so we’re hoping to actually see the photos from inside this wedding. LeAnn would be a knockout in a figure-hugging mermaid- style gown, and let’s face it: Eddie’s the kind of guy who can pull off a tux. A sophisticated ballroom wedding that overlooks the ocean would be perfect for these two.

Who’s Getting Hitched? Sherri Shepherd and Lamar Sally

The View cohost Sherri announced her engagement to television writer Lamar in early January. The couple has been dating for over a year and set a wedding date for August 2011.

Her Style: As a comedian, Sherri’s known for being larger-than-life and a little outrageous — but thankfully, her fashion sense seems totally under control.

Their Wedding: The two have already announced that the wedding will be held in Chicago, so we’re thinking a high-end location, like the Four Seasons or The Drake. Sherri would look stunning in a pure white gown, maybe with a bateau neckline or even a halter style.

Who’s Getting Hitched? Crystal Harris and Hugh Hefner

Hugh Hefner’s engagement to Crystal Harris (who’s 60 years his junior) may not have surprised anyone quite as much as it did Holly Madison — Hef’s former chief girlfriend who broke up with him because he refused to put a ring on it.

Her Style: Well, um, we know she’s not afraid to show a little skin. Aside from photos of the former Playmate in risque costumes, we don’t have much to go on, but we’re willing to bet she doesn’t leave the house without a little makeup.

Their Wedding: Let’s hope it happens in the Playboy mansion grotto.

Who’s Getting Hitched? Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth

She might be the closest thing we have to an “America’s sweetheart,” and we have to admit that her romance with agent Jim is kinda cute. The two announced their engagement in December, and friends say Reese is “so in love.”

Her Style: Reese maintains a freshly scrubbed girl-next-door look, even when she’s walking the red carpet. She’s always fashionable, but in a classic Gap ad kind of way.

Their Wedding: Three words: Classic. American. Prep. We’re thinking a late-summer wedding in Martha’s Vineyard, with Reese wearing a gown of understated elegance (maybe something by Amsale) and lots of rich green hues for the reception decor.

Who’s Getting Hitched? Vivica A. Fox and Omar “Slim” White

Club promoter Omar proposed with an eight-carat engagement ring while the two were in Miami. Vivica, who is 19 years older than Omar, recently gushed that he is a “Southern gentleman.”

Her Style: We know that Vivica loves a little — okay, maybe a lot of — sparkle, even in her everyday style. From sequined tops to rhinestone-studded earrings, she always stands out.

Their Wedding: Between a club promoter and a girl who likes to shine, we’re hoping the two opt for a true Miami wedding: a ceremony on the beach and then a party indoors that doesn’t stop. Vivica has a great figure, so a curve-hugging fit-and-flare style would be perfect for the ceremony. Then later she could slip into a shorter dress with jewel-encrusted details for the nightclub reception.

Who’s Getting Hitched? Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey

The quiet pair has dated pretty solidly since Nick split with Jessica, and Nick says he’s been “basking in the glow” of his engagement since proposing.

Her Style: There’s no doubt that Vanessa has a sexy style that turns heads wherever she goes. As a former Miss Teen USA, she has a classic look, with just enough low-cut shirts thrown in for good measure.

Their Wedding: Nick has already said that he wants the wedding to be “all about her,” so it might be the Jessica nuptials all over again. Think: soft pinks, peonies, garden roses and a sweetheart-cut wedding dress with a jewel-encrusted belt for Vanessa.

Who’s Getting Hitched? Lily Allen and Sam Cooper

The 25-year-old British songstress reportedly burst into tears of joy when beau Sam proposed on Christmas Day while they were in Bali.

Her Style: Lily’s retro-girlie looks have occasionally gotten her in trouble for being too risque (she’s got a serious aversion to bras), but overall, we love the envelope-pushing statements she makes.

Their Wedding: Expect this one to be totally nontraditional. We’d love to see Lily in a bustier-style tea-length frock, complete with satin ballet slippers, and maybe even her signature oversize hoop earrings. With Sam in a dark suit and a skinny tie, we think a ’50s cocktail party with the focus on great music and food would make for an intimate, fun wedding.

She’s been engaged since August 2009, but Shedding for the Wedding host Sara Rue is only now getting around to wedding planning, reports People.com.

Sara Rue's wedding

The Jenny Craig spokesperson, who is engaged to Kevin Price, a teacher, says that “It’s going really well all of a sudden.” This could be in part because she’s hired amazing wedding and event planner, Rachel Hollis from Chic Events to help her out.

The host, who’s show premieres on Feb. 23, said she’s hoping for a wedding that is “eclectic yet elegant” with an “intimate reception. What she doesn’t want? Nothing “ostentatious and over-the-top, the star tells People.com.

SIENNA Miller is reportedly planning a hippy-style wedding.

The stunning actress is set to tie the knot with actor Jude Law later this year and she is planning to have a ceremony in Dorset, South West England, where she will wear flowers in her hair and pay homage to her laid-back style.

Sienna Miller and Jude Law

“Jude’s given her a ring for Christmas, as well as a new house, and he intends to make her a bride this summer,” a source said.

“She’s going for a ‘hippy-style flowers-in-your-hair’ wedding. She wants it to be in a small church in the English countryside with Jude’s children taking part in the ceremony. It will probably be in Dorset or Devon.”

Sienna, 29, and Jude — who has three children, Rafferty, 14, Iris, 10, and eight-year-old Rudy with ex-wife Sadie Frost — rekindled their romance in late 2009 after splitting in 2006 following revelations the ‘Alfie’ star had cheated on her with the children’s nanny.

As well as planning their wedding, the couple have recently splashed out on a north London mansion, and Sienna is keen for them to have a baby together to make their family complete.

“Sienna has decided that this will be the home that she has children in. There is a room for each of Jude’s children and room for a new baby,” the source added.

As well as his children with Sadie, Jude also has a 15-month-old daughter Sophia from a brief relationship with Samantha Burke.

So Kevin Jonas just got married. Who else got married in 2009? Let’s see. Tom Brady of the New England Patriots got married to Gisele Bunchen. Mandy Moore tied the knot with Ryan Adams. David Letterman finally married Regina Lasko (This one is looking like it will last! Sarcasm). Who else? Bruce Willis to Emma Hemming, Heidi Montag to Spencer Pratt, Mark Wahlberg to Rhea Durham, and so on and so on and so on!

celebrity wedding

What I can’t figure out is why any one cares at all. Think about it! Do you really want to start your marriage off by planning your wedding day to be like those of celebrities? How many of the couples above will be divorced in the next five years? Celebrity weddings do not intrigue the news media because of their ritz and glamour. The real reason that the media drools over celebrity weddings is because celebrity marriages are disasters. A celebrity marriage is an announcement of a major disaster waiting to happen.

I am not saying that you can’t take ideas away from celebrity weddings. Sure, take an idea here and there. So you liked some of the decor at Brad and Angelina’s wedding. Fine, take some of those ideas and run with them. Celebrity weddings can give us great ideas. Just don’t get too carried away and pattern your special day after someone else’s especially when the celebrity marriage that follows that glamorous celebrity wedding is probably going to sink faster than the Titanic itself.

If you take an idea from a celebrity wedding, don’t make the mistake of talking about it in front of the wrong people at the reception. If someone asks you where you got the idea for something, then go ahead and tell them. If they don’t ask, it is a good indication that they don’t care. Keep in mind that a lot of people have an extreme distaste for celebrities. If you give them the impression that you are trying to act, behave, or be like a celebrity in any way, shape, or form, they are going to think of you as a phony or a wannabe.

What it really comes down to is that you want your wedding to be a positive start for your marriage. It is your day. Your fiance is marrying you and you are marrying him. Be yourself and let him be himself. He doesn’t want to be Brad Pitt. (If he does, maybe a session or two with a good psychologist would make a good wedding present). He isn’t getting married to Angelina Jolie. He is getting married to you.

To the average person, celebrity weddings (and celebrity marriages for that matter) are nothing but fluff. People don’t see celebrities as real people. Instead they see them as the characters they play on television or at the movies. You want your wedding to convey that you are in love with his person and you are going into this marriage forever. You don’t want to convey to people that this is just part of some fantasy headed for a bad ending.

As we reported earlier, Valerie Bertinelli married her longtime boyfriend, Tom Vitale, on New Year’s Day in a romantic seaside ceremony at her Malibu home. And now, we’ve got all the details!

Valerie Bertinelli and Tom Vitale

The bride wore blue! That’s right, Valerie donned a custom silk chiffon blue gown by David Meister and shoes by Jimmy Choo, reports People.com. She carried a large white bouquet, while the groom donned a more traditional black tux with a white shirt and vest for the ceremony. The magazine also confirms that Eddie Van Halen, plus former co-stars Mackenzie Philips and Pat “Schneider” Harrington were among the guests.

As for honeymoon plans, the newlyweds have decided to wait until spring to take an Italian vacation.

“I could have spent the rest of my life with Tom and not be married, but I wanted to call him ‘my husband’,” Valerie, 50, who stars in Hot in Cleveland tells People. “I really wanted to share how I feel about Tom with the people I love.”
